Product Manager - Software

Introduction:

The product manager works in tandem with a senior product manager to drive & manage TGCS software across all stages of the product/solution life cycle (from concept to end of life).  Product managers are highly inter-disciplinary business leaders who are driven to maximize performance of their products in the market.  They focus on understanding customer/market needs & opportunities, translating them into end-to-end cross-functional business plans, and continuously measuring/optimizing beyond launch.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct voice-of-the-customer and market research/analysis methodologies to understand the needs of customers in our target addressable market
  • Define and prioritize solution business requirements based on value, pervasiveness, urgency, and willingness to pay
  • Assist with market definition, sizing, and segmentation
  • Nurture new ideas to become true business opportunities by looking outward (analysis of market needs/value) and inward (our capabilities and core competencies)
  • Define solution vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Collaborate broadly internally & externally to establish, refine, and validate business plans aligned to the larger corporate & portfolio strategy
  • Conduct buy/build/partner analysis and assist with business development for resulting partnerships
  • Develop pro forma business models and design the pricing strategy for new solutions
  • Coordinate across functional areas to achieve business results, including development, marketing, sales, services, finance, and operations
  • Engage with product development and services program leaders to translate business requirements into complete solution delivery plans and services/support offerings
  • Engage with marketing and sales teams to build holistic launch plans, manage pipeline, and define routes to market
  • Manage and track progress against financial targets, including continuous risk assessment and mitigation
  • Speak at customer briefings, conferences & events, and assist selectively with direct sales efforts
  • Drive competitive analysis and compete strategies against established players and new threats

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 or more years' experience in product marketing, product management, product development, business development/strategy, or similar roles
  • Software industry knowledge and experience
  • Energetic and self-starter personality
  • Proven results-driven individual with good business acumen
  • Solid understanding of business finance and P&L management
  • Leadership ability in a cross-functional context
  • Strong presentation and communication skills in client-facing and/or internal/executive environments
  • Creative, entrepreneurial thinker who can manage risks, try new approaches, and use good judgment to build and grow the business
  • Desire to stretch and learn through continuing education, team collaboration, and new challenges/responsibilities

Preferred Skills:
  • MBA or equivalent work experience
  • Pragmatic marketing training/certification
  • NPDP/PDMA certification
