Introduction:

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Software Development Project Manager for Toshiba's Global Services PMO.  The Technical Project Manager will plan, schedule, monitor, evaluate and direct projects, ensuring they meet established time, cost and technical objectives. This position will be located at Toshiba's headquarters in Durham, NC. 

The selected candidate will have direct project management ownership of assigned projects.  The primary focus of this role will be managing custom SW development projects through the following stages:  scoping, sizing, proposal, contracting, design, development, test, delivery and support using proven project management methodologies and tools.  The position will require providing project management direction to both Toshiba and 3rd Party resources.  This role will also require participation in drafting Statements of Work for assigned projects and managing contract Change Control processes.  The selected candidate should be a skilled communicator at multiple levels and with customers and be able to use experience, tools and methodologies to achieve expected project results and customer satisfaction (on-time, within budget, within expectations).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Project Plans
    • Assist in creating customer proposals
    • Review and understand project Scope
    • Develop project plan and schedule
    • Identify resource requirements
    • Establish project team and communicate project plan
    • Define project planning; gather estimates, negotiate dates and resources with stakeholders (including release date with Business stakeholders)
    • Enable project documentation: organize documentation structure; employ existing, propose and design new templates as necessary
  • Project Execution
    • Conduct project meeting and status reporting- internally and with customer
    • Create and distribute project documentation
    • Maintain project plan and project documentation throughout the project
    • Monitor and control projects and manage day to day execution activity
    • Identify issues and tracks to resolution
    • Manages Change Control
    • Manages the work of TGCS resources and subcontractor personnel
    • Manage cost, schedule and resource variances
    • Ensures client expectations are met/exceeded
    • Establishes client follow-up/monitor process
    • Conducts lessons learned with project team
    • Manage project from Planning to Closure
    • Implement and ensure that internal project processes are followed and are adapted as required; this includes project governance, risk management and change management.
    • Clarify roles and responsibilities, project objectives and scope
    • Collaborate with specific stakeholders all along the project, including helpdesk
    • Engage and Manage vendor/contractor when necessary
    • Enable and promote smooth communication between team members and between different teams (including outsourced teams)
    • Organize and facilitate meetings efficiently; create and distribute meetings minutes within 24 hours
    • Manage budget as required
    • Manage and report overall project schedule and status using the designated Project & Portfolio Management Tool
    • Promote project management awareness to team leaders and members
    • Escalate blockers, risks and issues to management in a timely manner
    • Actively contribute to improve existing processes and practices

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience as a Software Development Project Manager
  • Experience in creating customer proposals and strong customer presentation skills
  • Ability to work within a project team environment where results will be based on cooperation with and/or influence of others
  • Proficient in MS Office Tools including MS Project
  • Must have history of meeting and exceeding challenging objectives
  • Results driven with a focus on project success, revenue and costs - P&L responsibility
  • Ability to foster a team environment, influencing cooperation, diversity, communication and results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills both up and down the organizational chain
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of urgency and driving issues to closure
  • Able to meet deadlines and produce high quality work

Preferred Skills:
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMI) or demonstrated plan to achieve
  • 4+ years of experience as a Software Development Project Manager in a retail environment
